Differences
Differences are good...you just have to be prepared for them! Personally I have always looked forward to change even if it sometimes seemed negative at the time. Looking back, I realize that everything happens for a reason but you are given multiple choices. Sometimes you don't like all of the choices (maybe none of them), but there are always choices. Moving to the Virgin Islands was a great choice. The only thing lacking is male companionship.

Biggest Difference: I always took water for granted; I always expected it to be there. Here I am surrounded by water and if it does not rain enough, we don't have water for dishes, washing, showers, etc. unless you have it delivered to you.  The reason is.a cistern. That is a large water tank which collects rain water from the roof and eaves and stores it for later use. You can treat the water so it is drinkable but if you don't treat it, you have to purchase bottled water to drink. Drinking water is about 50 cents a gallon. Cistern water is about $190 for 3,000 gallons. That will last you about 2 months if you are conservative and go to a laundromat.

Other Differences: The weather for me has been another significant difference. Being closer to the sun, the first few months you burn more readily until your skin adjusts to the climate. Then the pleasant humidity and the Trade Winds provide a Paradise to live in.
